Gateshead National Championships

College wins 15 medals at National College Outdoor Championships held at Gateshead

This week the College’s Athletics team travelled to the first National College Outdoor Championships held in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.

The team competed extremely well, excelling in a number of events, accumulating a total of 15 individual medals, the most of any college.

Many of the athletes secured new personal bests and top 10 national rankings and all winners at the event now hold a national record.

This haul confirmed Oaklands College as the number one indoor and outdoor athletics team in the country.

  • Martha Omer – 400m – 3rd
  • Martina Barber – 200m – 3rd
  • Frances Slater – 100m – 3rd
  • Abbie Maxwell – Shot Putt – 3rd
  • Laurence Levy – High Jump – 3rd
  • Laurence Levy – Hammer – 3rd
  • Jack Budge – 800m – 3rd
