Girls’ Basketball Academy battle to next stage of national competition

Oaklands faced County Upper School away in the last 64 round of the National Schools Under 19 Girls competition

Oaklands faced County Upper School away in the last 64 round of the National Schools Under 19 Girls competition. County Upper School had finished top of their pool with Oaklands finishing third indicating a tough game and a maximum performance required from the Girls.

As predicted, the girls endured fouls and setbacks in offence strategies which lost the team points and brought the game to a nail biting last 5 minutes. However, with the game on the line the Oaklands players made excellent decisions and the final score was County Upper School 60 and Oaklands College 69.

Michael Ball, Head Coach commented on the game: “the girls celebrated knowing that despite a very up and down performance, they had managed to play well at the crucial time and now look forward to playing Moulton College away in the last 32 game. Although the game was not a classic match it was excellent to see the players step up when under pressure.”
