Green light for Welwyn Campus development plans

Welwyn Hatfield District Council approved College’s planning application

WELWYN GARDEN CITY — Last night the Welwyn Hatfield District Council approved Oaklands College’s planning application for improvements needed at their Welwyn Garden City Campus.

The redevelopment will enable the College to address the campus’ most urgent property and curriculum needs including refurbishment and improved accessibility to their Engineering facilities and an entire rework of the Student Centre.

This investment will represent a significant improvement in education facilities within the Welwyn and Hatfield community with state of the art teaching and performance spaces created by this £5m commitment.

Principal of Oaklands College, Zoe Hancock, commented: “The development will enable us to significantly enhance the excellent experience for our students. We hope that this investment will add real value to the local community for many years to come.

“We hope to commence building works in early summer 2014 with the new facilities ready for use in September 2015.”
