At the beginning of this month, Ollie Mortensen from Herts Young Homeless Group visited AS Citizenship students to introduce them to the organisation and its work.
At the beginning of this month, Ollie Mortensen from Herts Young Homeless Group visited AS Citizenship students to introduce them to the organisation and its work.
Ollie ran various activities for the students, designed to challenge some common misconceptions and stereotypes of homeless individuals. To their surprise, they discovered that even celebrities like Daniel Craig and Halle Berry had been homeless at some stage.
Ollie took the students through the options available for young people in the county and what services they could use, as well as clarifying the different types of homelessness from living on the streets to living in hostels.
The students really valued meeting Ollie and hearing about the group, and several have gone on to volunteer with the organisation.
