On Wednesday 9 February, 20 students from Citizenship AS and A2 as well as some tutorial students participated in two events designed to raise their awareness of homelessness.

In the morning they visited St Mungo’s exhibition on Street Voices held at the LSE in London and in the afternoon they were given an ‘Unseen London Tour’ by Sock Mob, a volunteer network engaging with London’s homeless. The tour was conducted by two homeless guides – Viv and Mark, who shared their historical knowledge of London as well as their experiences of living on the streets.

Without exception, the students found the visit extremely though-provoking and learnt a lot about the violence and discrimination homeless people face daily.
