Back in March, Electrical Installation students and staff welcomed the multidisciplinary professional engineering Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) to Oaklands College.

Since then, the IET have kindly been in touch with Oaklands College again to provide free access for all Electrical Installation students to their online learning resources, to help assist the practical learning outcomes of students who are not able to attend college during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Students have been given full access to wiring regulations, OSG and Guidance notes during the lockdown period.

Electrical Installation lecturer Neil Dartnall said: “The generosity of the IET has further enhanced the learning experience of our students, who are missing out on vital practical experience in our on-site facilities.

The resources and materials that the IET have provided our staff and students with will make a significant impact on our student’s learning and ensures that their learning experience is not hindered by the ongoing situation.”

The contribution of early material and resources, after the college agreed to purchase regular learning materials from IET for the foreseeable future, will make a significant difference to the learning outcomes of our students who are unable to attend campus during lockdown.
