From 12 April, St Albans Town Hall will be home to a collection of innovative artwork by Oaklands College students based on the theme of sustainability and care for the environment.

Including fashion, sculpture, painting and graphics, the exhibition is free to the public and one of the exhibition pieces – a dress made out of a thousand Tesco bags –  has already been briefly displayed in the town centre and attracted significant public attention.

The exhibition runs until 17 April, 10am-4pm, and on Wednesday 13 April at 1pm by the Town Hall, there will be a fashion show displaying unique dresses inspired by the theme of sustainability.

Councillor Melvyn Teare, sponsor of the exhibition, commented: “It’s really important to get young people thinking about the issue of sustainability and preserving our environment for future generations. I also wanted their work and ideas to be given a wider audience because it’s an issue that affects everyone.”
