Local Democracy Week

AS Students raise awareness on Local Democracy Week

On 17 October a group of AS Citizenship students and two Youth Council members, with the help of the St Albans District council, held a market stall in the heart of St Albans City Centre to help raise awareness on Local Democracy Week.

The students were very inventive in their methods, encouraging the public to “have their say” which was displayed on a “wall of ideas”.

After the success of the market stall students were then later invited to local radio station Radio Verulam as part of the Your Questions show to voice the public’s views to members of the local political scene.

The afternoon session was thoroughly enjoyed by all with students stating that the lesson was such a contrast to normal lessons.

Both students and staff would like to thank both the Council, Radio Verulam and the members of the public for their views.
