24 June 2013

On Friday 7 June, the Mayor of St Albans, Cllr Annie Brewster and Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Paul Morris OBE, along with friends, family and art & fashion enthusiasts were invited to the opening of Oaklands College’s art and fashion end of year show.

Cllr Annie Brewster, Mayor of St Albans City and District, commented: “The standard of work produced by the students for the show was remarkable, with tremendous fashion, flair and creativity. I have my eye on a number of the designs and I would like to congratulate everyone involved.”

Free to enter and open to the public until 13 June, the exhibition showcased an array of original artwork including fashion, ceramics, paintings, graphics and 3D artworks.

Cllr Paul Morris OBE, Mayor of Hertsmere, commented: “Having not had the opportunity to visit Oaklands, I was overwhelmed with the magnificent facilities and dynamism of the staff.

“It was a most impressive visit, the highlight of which was the fashion show.  I had anticipated a somewhat basic presentation but was overwhelmed with the skill and expertise and high standard of the presentations.

“Often as Mayor we attend events with mixed feelings, on this occasion we left on a high hoping that we will be asked to another presentation.  The Principal should be proud of what they have achieved.”

Zoe Hancock, Principal of Oaklands College, commented: “The fashion show was so well executed, with such intricate and detailed pieces.

“I would like to thank both Mayor Annie Brewster and Mayor Paul Morris OBE for attending as well as the staff and students for all of their hard work.”
