Level 2 and 3 students studying Media Make Up and Theatrical Make Up got to test their creative skills at a Strictly- themed dance-off which to date has raised over £15’000 for charity.

The team of students volunteered to do make up for contestants in the Strictly Air Ambulance event, which was hosted in Charter Hall in Colchester in aid of Red Nose Day.

A crowd of just over 1’000 cheered on six dance couples of amateur dancers and professional dance partners  competing in the annual event, which put their Strictly training to the test in rounds of glittering performances.

The dancers performed everything from the Viennese Waltz and quickstep to the jive and paso doble in front of celebrity judges, Aljaž Skorjanec and Janette Manrara (pictured) from the smash hit BBC TV show.

Our students got to put their creative skills to the test on the events performers before enjoying some time to enjoy the show and grab a selfie with the celebrity judging team.

College tutor Jackie Coles said: “Media and Theatrical make up requires a distinct and striking style, as well as durability and this event is a great opportunity to put our skills learnt to working practise

“The glitz and glamour of the famous Strictly glitter ball brought a great atmosphere to a really worthwhile charity event – we’re thrilled we were able to bring something to the table and support such a great cause.”
