Meet an Olympic Medallist at Oaklands TONIGHT!

Grab your chance to meet Olympic Gold Medal Winner Hannah MacLeod, as she returns to home turf tonight at St Albans Hockey Club for a celebration reception after the team’s glittering success in the Rio Olympic Games.

ST ALBANS — Grab your chance to meet Olympic Gold Medal Winner Hannah MacLeod, as she returns to home turf tonight at St Albans Hockey Club for a celebration reception after the team’s glittering success in the Rio Olympic Games.

Tonight MacLeod will return to the team’s regular training ground at Oaklands College to an array of the Hockey Club’s members, friends and parents to congratulate her on her success. The team came victorious in a dramatic head-to-head against The Netherlands to secure the nation’s first ever Olympics women’s hockey gold medal.

Hannah has enjoyed international success with England and Great Britain, winning medals at the World Cup, Champions Trophy, European Championships and Commonwealth Games. After getting her first taste of the Olympics at London 2012, she made the step to the top of the podium as part of the gold medal winning team in the 2016 Games. She now plays her club hockey at St Albans, regularly training at Oaklands St Albans Campus.

St Albans Hockey Club is bringing the buzz back from Rio with a number of training events and activities for anyone feeling inspired after the games. A free, all-inclusive bring-a-friend Junior Hockey Masterclass take place with England and GB player Zoe Shipperly, – Camp coordinator tonight from 6pm and the following week on the 13 September, with additional ‘Colts’ activities on Sunday morning for Junior players. With new ladies’ and men’s clubs on the cards this season –be a part of the action and get inspired from gold medallist success.
