College students rock The Pioneer

On 24th June 2011, at The Pioneer in St Albans, three bands from Oaklands College will be playing their final show of the year.  Leather Daddies, The Shuffles, and The Original Door will be providing diverse styles of music that range from Britpop to metal.

The age of entry is between 13-19 years old.  Student receive a discount price of £2, (must provide student ID on the door), normal price is £3. Doors open at 7pm.

 All proceeds from the gig will be going to ‘Busking For Cancer’.

The Leather Daddies are a hard rock covers band, based in Welwyn Garden City. They consist of Josh Moutrey (Vocals), Ben Aylott (Guitar), David Smith (Guitar/vocals), Adam Reichental (Drums), Lewis Ali (Bass). The band play a range of hard rock from the 70’s and 80’s including the likes of Kiss, Alice Cooper and AC/DC. The bands main aim is to get the audience up on their feet and dancing.

-    Ben Aylott of The Leather Daddies exclaimed, “ It’s going to be a rocking show, with our favourite 80’s hard rock tunes, the main aim is to get everyone dancing and singing along”

The Shuffles formed through college and their focus has been on gathering a repertoire of wide-ranging covers for all to enjoy including the likes of, Bloc Party, Nirvana, The Strokes and Oasis.  The band consists of, Chris Burton (Vocals/Guitar), Tom Barroeta (Bass/vocals), Andrew Canning (Guitar/vocals), Jon Burton/Lewis Ali (Drums).

       -  Chris Burton of The Shuffles says, “I’m looking forward to playing some of my     favourite songs and hopefully doing them justice.”

The Original Door is a new and upcoming band, covering songs from popular music and giving them a different edge. This incorporates covers of songs by The Killers, One Night Only, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters and Oasis. The band line-up consists of Jamie Maundrell (Guitar), George Bagnelle (Guitar), Lewis Ali (Drums), Alex Rowling (Bass), and Daniel Bandy (Vocals).

-    Ex-Room 94 star George Bagnelle, now of The Original Door says, “It’s going to be a great show, with songs for everyone to enjoy, I can’t wait to play”
