Festive fundraising for Welwyn Shoppers

11 December 2011

Oaklands College is getting into the festive spirit this Christmas and offering shoppers spaces in their car park for a special rate every weekend in December – all in the name of charity!

For just a £2 flat fee on Saturday, and £1 on Sunday, Christmas shoppers visiting Welwyn Garden City town centre will be able to park between 8am and 4pm in Oaklands College car park, which is just a short walk away from all the main shops and amenities.  The car park will be open this weekend (17/18th) and on the 24th December.

The scheme is being run by the Oaklands College Dragons Apprentice team, in order to raise money for their chosen charity Harpenden Spotlight on Africa, supporting communities in Sub-Saharan Africa primarily with local initiatives to alleviate poverty.

The Dragons team, a group of business students, have so far raised £870 from £100 seed money and will also be selling raffle tickets for a fantastic prize draw including winning tickets to see a Premier League game at Arsenal or Chelsea, or the forthcoming X-Factor Roadshow.
