A Level students visit the Turkish Ambassador's residence

17 June 2012

On 14 June the A Level Citizenship students attended the Turkish Ambassador’s residence in London for a morning of presentations by the Ambassador and his staff.

The event was organised by The European Atlantic Movement (TEAM) which provides an in-depth understanding of world affairs for teachers and students.

The College was one of only 5 educational institutions represented, including the University of Reading, Oxford Brookes University, University of London, American School of London and the University of Exeter. There were about 75 participants in total.

Other guests included the CEO of Medical Foundation for Victims of Torture, Liberal Democrat European Group, Nurses, Lawyers, Clarendon International, Teachers and the Mayor of Wycombe District Council.

After an introduction from the Chairman of TEAM, the Ambassador gave a thorough presentation on ‘Turkish Foreign Policy in a Changing World’, his associate, the commercial counsellor then rounded off the event with a presentation on Turkey’s economy.

Both were not only interesting and insightful but also provided very useful examples for the Citizenship student’s upcoming exam.

After the presentations and some time for questions the Turkish Ambassador invited us all for a full banquet style buffet lunch that was very much appreciated!

The College is an active member of TEAM, for further information please contact Hans Svennevig, hans.svennevig@oaklands.ac.uk
