Wednesday night’s game resulted in a 1-1 draw against Bengeo Trinity FC, securing the League Championship title. They make history by being the first ever team to take the double  – a victory made even sweeter by the fact the team have secured both titles in their debut year.

The semi-pro team, which is based at Oaklands College St Albans Campus are already looking ahead to their plans next year for the premier division. AFC Oaklands is the semi pro arm of elite football academy EDSV, which hosts a portfolio of teams spanning ladies, men’s and various ages.

AFC Manager Billy Highton said:  “To not only win the double but to do it is our first year is an incredible achievement and reflects the hard work, enthusiasm and professionalism of our players.

“It’s a fantastic kick start to our competitive life and we can’t wait to move on to the premier division.

Both wins show the calibre of players we are developing and their potential to go on and excel at higher levels in professional football.”
