ST ALBANS — Three companies who have partnered with Oaklands to develop their Apprenticeships have been commended in the Central Eastern National Apprenticeship Awards 2014.
The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their eleventh year, are run by the National Apprenticeship Service to recognise businesses that grow their own talent with apprentices and also to recognise apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces.
Building Research Establishment (BRE) were awarded Best Newcomer. BRE currently employs 19 apprentices in engineering, IT and finance and have worked closely with Oaklands College to develop industry focussed apprenticeships across their organisation.
Liebherr, manufacturers of earth moving, mining and lifting equipment were awarded Best Large Company while Lee Mason, their Apprenticeship Programme Manager, won the Apprentice Champion Award.
Two apprentices from Stevenage based MBDA Missile Systems received commendations. Mechanical engineering apprentice, Danielle Calvert won the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year Award while Leanne Ingledew won the Higher Apprenticeship Award for her commitment to her Higher Apprenticeship in Business and Administration.
All regional finalists will now go forward to the National Finals to be held at Birmingham’s NEC, on Thursday 13 November.
