Oaklands awarded Autism Accreditation

The support given to students with autism in Oaklands’ Springfield and Support Learning provision has been given the seal of approval from the National Autistic Society (NAS). 

NAS awarded the service the Autism Accreditation, a quality-assurance mark that shows that staff are providing high quality support to those with autism.

Head of Springfield & Supported Learning Kerry Lowe said: “I am very pleased that our provision has been awarded this accreditation. It means that parents can be assured that their child is getting the very best support while they are a student with us. 

“I’m very proud of the team for all their hard work. I would also like to thank all the students, parents and guardians who also gave us feedback, supporting us to get to this point.” 

The report from NAS stated that all students have clear learning targets based around their individual needs and abilities, and all staff are able to maintain continuity for their students to build confidence and reduce anxiety. 

The report praised he provision’s tailored approach to support, stating: “Each student is dealt with on an individual basis as opposed to one size fits all. There is a variety in program offers, catering for differing abilities and a wide range of resources are used, based on individual need.”
