It was a results day like no other as Oaklands College students received their A Level results via email, with college campuses still closed under strict social distancing measures.

It is an anxious time for students collecting their results, with around 100 A Level students realising their dream of achieving a University place.

This year, A Level students at Oaklands College achieved a 99% pass rate,a testament to their hard work and determination during challenging times.

Oaklands College Principal Zoe Hancock said: “This has been a difficult year for everyone, and we are extremely proud of our students and staff.

Due to the way grades have been determined  we will be supporting students on their next steps whether this is onto university and also in some cases where the calculated grades do not reflect our view of their ability.”

Deputy Principal and Head of Curriculum and Quality; Harpreet Nagra said:

“We know how hard this year has been for students who’ve had to deal with the impacts of ‘lockdown’, managing their studies from home and the cancellation of the summer exam series.

This year’s A Level results are an amazing testimony to the hard work and determination demonstrated by our students and staff and we couldn’t be prouder of them.

I would like to wish all those students who are moving onto their next steps (whether that is University or employment) the very best of luck. To all those who will be returning to us in September – We’re very much looking forward to welcoming you back!”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic back in March, students were graded based on grades predicted by their teachers, which were then moderated by exam boards, taking into account historical performance data of students in previous years.
