About the course

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Women's Hairdressing has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques such as the creative art of cutting women's hair, the artistic skill of colouring, imaginative dexterity of styling and dressing hair, and how to provide effective consultation support for colleagues.

Course Content - What will I learn?

This qualification will develop a complete repertoire of technical skills to prepare you for employment. Units covered will include: Cut hair using a combination of creative techniques - create a variety of looks for women using club cutting, freehand and scissor-over-comb techniques Colouring hair using a variety of techniques - gain the knowledge and artistic skill of using hair colour to create an effect Colour correction services - learn to restore depth and tone of colour and neutralise unwanted colour tones Creatively style and dress hair - develop a variety of conventional and non-conventional setting and dressing techniques to produce innovative, fashionable, creative, personalised looks Creatively dress long hair - learn the techniques, products, tools and equipment required for setting and dressing long hair Monitor procedures to safely control work operations - improve knowledge of the measures designed to protect the health and safety of people at work and that of others, such as visitors and members of the public Marketing and promotion of products to clients - develop an understanding of the necessary communication skills and know how to identify and promote appropriate products to the client As part of the study programme, you may also be required to study English and maths as part of your programme at the appropriate level for you. Work experience, enrichment and employability will also form an integral part of your course.
It is a requirement that students will attend a late night weekly session until 8.30pm and will need to arrange appropriate transport home at this time, as this reflects industry standards. You will be required to purchase a uniform and kit through the college to support you in completing the course
