Oaklands College business students have just found out that their Dragons’ Apprentice team has reached the final of this year’s challenge.

Formed of 4 business students, the team had to raise as much money as the could by using their entrepreneurial flair to develop and run fundraising events, raising money for their charity of choice – Camphill in St Albans.

The Oaklands College team ran a wide range of events including beauty treatments for staff at St Albans District Council to a FIFA 2011 knockout competition.

Oaklands College will be competing against 5 other local schools to be the overall winner, but being shortlisted in the final means that they will be able to present the money they have raised to Camphill Charity.

Paul Kirikal, Lecturer and internal mentor in Business at Oaklands College, commented: “Reaching the final has given our students a massive boost and they have really benefited from entering into this competition, gaining business skills in the real world that will stand them in good stead for the future. They are thrilled to be able to have raised money for the Camphill Charity and are looking forward to presenting them with the cheque.”
