This Friday 14 June saw the World School Games return to Oaklands College for another year of action-packed, fun-filled activities and sports related drills for 21 local schools in the surrounding Hertfordshire area.

The event, which was co-organised by School Games Coordinator Tanya Angus, benefited from the coaching skills delivered by current Sport Studies students.

Oaklands students ran a variety of exciting drills, showcasing our Rugby, Football, Cycling, Athletics and much more from our Oaklands Wolves Sports Academies.

An audience, comprised of family, staff and students of the 21 local primary schools, were treated to a opening dance performance from Oaklands College student and Greatest Dancer Finalist James Ashton’s FK Dance Academy

Over 150 children were in attendance across the day, participating in the round-robin style circuits, which taught participants a variety of different skills and valuable training exercises.

Oaklands College Principal Zoe Hancock said: “We are delighted to host 21 local primary schools to another successful World School Games event, with over 150 students in attendance.  The community event is a fantastic opportunity to continue to support our surrounding schools and for our Sports Academy students to showcase what they have learnt throughout their time at Oaklands.”
