Oaklands students lend Heartwood Forest a helping hand

Visitors to Heartwood forest can now sit down, rest and take in beautiful views on a new wooden bench designed and constructed by Oaklands College Carpentry students.
The bench, designed by four students, has been placed along a path that currently runs between two newly planted, large areas of land. In years to come, when the trees are fully-grown, this path will be very popular with ramblers of all ages, navigating them through a spectacular forest.
Oaklands College Horticulture students also played their part in the creation of the forest by planting 248 young trees around the bench.
The students were thrilled to be able to help the forest and leave a legacy for generations to come.
