Record breaking A Level results for Oaklands College students

It was an early start at Oaklands College this morning with expectant students eager to collect this year’s A Level Results. 

There was excellent news all round with overall results showing a significant year on year increase. The staff and students were delighted with the results, showing the benefit of remaining one of the few Further Education colleges continuing to offer A Levels and the only in Hertfordshire, in this post 16 setting.

With 100% pass rate for A2 and 50% of students gaining high grades leading to outstanding value added. Value added is a measurement showing student achievement in excess of predicted grades, based on GCSE results.

After setting a successful benchmark at AS Level last summer, student Oliver Bowbrick from Radlett secured 4A*s in English Literature, Politics, Sociology and Extended Projects. Oliver has now secured a place at Cambridge University to study Human, Social and Political Sciences.

Oliver said: “I have had an amazing time at Oaklands College. I came out of education for a while so to come back and get such great results is brilliant. Oaklands College has given me the opportunity to study subjects I have really enjoyed and I am looking forward to going to University now.”

Oliver was also nominated in the College’s annual Celebration of Success Awards in the A Level Category for his exemplary attitude and approach to his studies and life at College.

Charlotte Lord received A,A,B for her AS Levels and is looking forward to returning in September and said: “I am so pleased with my results and looking forward to my second year with a plan to study Psychology at University.”
