Sarah Moreland, Interim Head of Business and ICT, was delighted to find herself on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List published at the weekend.

Set to receive an MBE for her service to Further Education, Sarah wears many hats in her role at Oaklands and is heavily involved in the Oaklands College Riding for the Disabled Group. She is also the Great Britain Equestrian coach for the Special Olympics and is due to fly out to Athens on Sunday for the Special Olympics World Games.

Sarah commented: “Helping others and seeing them be so successful at what they can do rather than what they can’t is reward enough,  but being chosen to receive an MBE  for the work that means so much to me is very exciting and I feel very honoured.”

Zoe Hancock, Principal of Oaklands College, said: “Sarah has put 100% into everything she has done here at the College and we are very grateful for her dedication to Further Education, learners and colleagues. Her work with our Riding for the Disabled Team and also with the Special Olympics Equestrian team has shown how committed she is to young people in this country, helping them to receive a well-rounded education and future opportunities.”
