EFL IELTS Higher

The course develops the four skills for the Academic module. Typical task types covered for the Writing paper are:

Organising, presenting and comparing data
Describing the stages of a process
Describing an object, event or sequence of events
Presenting the solution to a problem
Presenting and justifying an opinion
Evaluating and challenging ideas

At the same time you practice more complex grammatical structures and communication at this level.

You will need to buy a notebook, and dictionary. Exam fees are not included in your fees.

English as a Foreign Language (EFL)

It is possible to enrol in September, January, and April but the course is seen as a 1 year programme starting in September.

EFL classes are offered in the morning, typically:

EFL Intermediate (B1) 9.30-12.45 Monday/Wednesday;
EFL Upper Intermediate (B2) 9.30-12.45 Monday/Wednesday;
EFL Advanced (C1) 9.30-12.45 Monday/Wednesday;
IELTS (B2+) 09.45-13.00 Friday.

Business English is offered as an evening class:
Business English (B2-C1) 18.15-20.45 Tuesday.

You will study grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing at an appropriate level. You will also be prepared for Cambridge exams depending on demand. There is more information on specific levels and courses on the ESOL-EFL course page on the website.

Level 2 Diploma in Bench Joinery

The aim of the course is to put in place all the skills and knowledge that is required to
become a good bench joiner.
The course consists of multiple choice on-line exams two core units: Health & Safety in construction and Principles of Construction.
Practical units:
Know how to produce setting out details for routine joinery products.
Know how to mark setting out details for routine joinery products.
Know how to manufacture joinery products such as doors and stairs.
Set up and use electrical carpentry tools such as a router and a circular saw.

Course
NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care

This part-time course is designed primarily for adult students aged 19 or over and is held one evening a week over the academic year. The course provides adult students with knowledge and understanding of core subject areas in health and social care to support progression to further learning or opportunities in the workplace.

To increase your confidence in interviews you will cover how to prepare for an interview, researching the company, looking at questions that you may be asked by the interviewer and questions for you to ask them regarding the role. You will also understand presentations skills which will improve your confidence of speaking aloud, followed by a mock interview.
All these techniques and practices will help you to get the job that you are looking for in the sector that suits you.

Functional Skills English – Distance Learning

These English courses provide you with all the skills required to handle your communication and deal with formal correspondence concisely and clearly using English to read and write appropriately.

Learn to write reports, formal letters, and articles with confidence, improve your understanding of the correct use of punctuation and grammar and learn to write with ease.

These skills will help you in all areas of your life and you will feel confident and capable to progress in your job or onto further or higher education.

Distance Learning means that you will only have to come to the college to undertake your exams when you are ready. This approach means that you can do your learning at times to suit you from any location with an internet and a computer. You cannot do the learning on a phone, tablet or i-pad.

These courses also have rolling start and end dates between August and May, which means you can start as soon as your initial assessment and diagnostics have been completed and funding approved.

These courses provide you with all the skills required to deal with numbers in any situation in life, for instance, measure for carpet, split bills in restaurants to make sure you are getting the best deal possible, understanding data, working out interest and much more.
