Alana is studying the Level 4 Certificate in Salon Management.

Course: Level 4 Certificate in Salon Management
Having previously studied Mechanics, Alana decided it wasn’t for her and joined the college’s Level 1 Beauty course, working her way up to the Level 4 Certificate in Salon Management.
The Level 4 teaches students how to perform more advanced treatments, like laser hair removal, skin tag removal and derma-rolling.
“Having the Level 4 really makes you stand out as most jobs won’t expect you to have it, and they’ll be really impressed to see that you do,” said mum-of-two Alana.
Alana was supported throughout her time at Oaklands, which helped her balance studying while caring for her children, aged two and four.
Alana now has her own business called Alana’s Beauty Treatments, based at Gymphobics women only gym in Welwyn Garden City and thinks the support from the college helped her get there.
“I have enjoyed being here so much and all the staff have really supported me – without the support it would have been a lot harder for me.”
