Meet: Annie

Annie made the most of her time at Oaklands and now runs her own clinic in London!

Annie made the most of her experience at Oaklands College and has recently opened up her own clinic within SMUK in London, called McConnell Aesthetics.

Annie said: “Before I joined Oaklands College I had little confidence in my ability as a beauty therapist and I wasn’t sure if it was something I wanted to do.

When I started the course, Kayleigh Moran-Hawkins (Lecturer in Beauty) soon put these feelings at ease and through her passion for the beauty industry and vast knowledge, I quickly found my love for it once more!”

The hands-on experience Annie gained at Oaklands College set her up for a career outside of her studies, she said: “Since leaving Oaklands I have now opened my own aesthetics business in London Victoria, with the guidance from Kayleigh, which is something I wouldn’t have even thought of before I joined Oaklands.”

Annie studied a Level 4 Diploma in Advance Beauty Therapy at Oaklands College, a full-time, 24-week course which provides students with an advanced qualification that has been specifically designed for existing or aspiring salon managers and aesthetic skin therapists.

Whilst pursuing her studies at the college, Annie gained valuable experience of working with internal and external clients at the on-site Oasis Hair & Beauty salon, which provided her with the practical experience needed to open her own aesthetics salon.

I can’t thank Oaklands enough, especially Kayleigh, for giving me confidence again and setting me up for the future
