Name: Charlotte
Course: Foundation Degree in Early Years

Charlotte had already completed her Level 3 Diploma in Childcare at Oaklands and had been working as a learning support assistance in a school for four years.

When she decided to advance her career, she chose to study the Foundation Degree in Early Years as it meant she could continue working while studying.

“The course supported not only my academic development but also my personal development. My confidence grew throughout my time studying due to supportive tutors and study peers.

“We were provided up to date teaching which helped me to understand the theory behind today’s practice.”

The support from her tutors meant that Charlotte was able to complete her essays to a high standard and learn how to analyse her own writing, an essential skill for studying at university.

“There is a welcoming, friendly vibe at Oaklands – there is a large amount of support available to all students in order to successfully complete their courses and enjoy college life,” said Charlotte.

Charlotte went on to top up her Foundation Degree with a Degree in Education Studies and is now working as a teaching assistant. She is also looking into completing a teacher training course.

“I had a fantastic two years at Oaklands. I met new friends, studied interesting subjects and had an inspiring, motivational tutor to support me all the way.

“I now feel confident and ready to become a teacher and share my love of learning with children.”
