Meet Eleanor, a former student who having completed her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, went on to study a Sport Apprenticeship at Maple Primary School in St Albans.

We sat down with Eleanor to discuss her experience at Oaklands College.

Since leaving Oaklands College, have you gone onto further education?

“After leaving college I pursued a Level 3 Apprenticeship and this year, I am now studying for a Level 4 Sports Apprenticeship.”

Tell us about your time at Oaklands. What led to you studying here and what did you enjoy?

“I joined Oaklands College as I wanted to train for Netball alongside my studying, so the Netball Academy was an interest to me.”

What are you doing now?

“After finishing my Level 3 Diploma in Sport I then pursued a Level 3 Apprenticeship at Maple Primary School as a P.E. Teacher and am now doing a Level 4 Sports Apprenticeship.”

What would you say was the major highlight of your time at Oaklands?

“Being able to train with the Netball Academy at least once a day was a real highlight.”

What advice would you give to today’s Oaklands students?

“Make sure you complete your course work as soon as possible, so that it doesn’t build-up over time!”

Would you recommend the course that you studied, if so, why?

“I would recommend it as it has helped me learn a basic understanding of Sport Studies, which enabled me to then progress onto the apprenticeship and into employment.”
