We sat down with Helen at the Higher Education Graduation Ceremony to hear all about her Oaklands journey.

Tell us about your time at Oaklands, what led you to study here and what did you enjoy about your course?

“I thoroughly enjoyed the course, I found it interesting and learnt a lot during my time at Oaklands College, initially studying my Diploma in Animal Management, my experience at Oaklands College led me to return to complete my Foundation Degree in the same subject.”

Helen has continued her education journey with the Royal Agricultural University in Brighton, where she is studying for her Bachelor of Science in Animal Behaviour.

What would you say has been the major highlight of your time at Oaklands?

“The thing I enjoyed the most about my time at Oaklands College was how practical the learning was, I personally enjoyed working with reptiles and applying the theory learnt in lesson to practical environments.”

What advice would you give to today’s students considering the same course at Oaklands?

“I would say go for it if you find it interesting, you’ll gain a lot of self-confidence and the Foundation Degree prepares you for life at University and helps you develop your skills for the workplace.”
