Twins Marcus and Ollie play tennis professionally and chose to study the HNC in Sport and Exercise Sciences because the course could fit in around their training and competitions.
“Oaklands provided us with a flexible timetable, allowing us to continue to study around training and competing hours. There’s also a gym so we were able to train off court between lectures,” said Ollie.
The twins found that the course increased their knowledge in many different areas of sport, such as nutrition and coaching.
“If you are a sportsperson you will find this course very interesting. It gives you an insight into many areas of sport, instead of specifically studying just one subject. The variety of modules and practicals keep you interested through the whole year,” said Marcus.
After completing the course, the twins went on to top up their degree in Sports Studies at the University of Hertfordshire, while continuing to compete.
“Oaklands was a great environment to study in, providing great facilities for sporting athletes. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had the most amazing tutor who was always available and there when needed. We learnt that there is so much more to sport than just playing it,” said Ollie.
