Max’s journey into construction started at a young age, following his departure from Secondary School upon the completion of his GCSE’s.

Max left school and went straight into employment with a groundwork’s company based close to his home in St. Albans, undertaking general labouring tasks and assisting the site engineer with setting out activities.

It was Max’s experience within the company which convinced him that a career in the management side of the construction industry suited his skill-set.

“In order for me to be able to pursue a management career within the industry, I decided to undertake a Level 3 BTEC in Construction at Oaklands College. The course allowed me to gain an insight into some of the more technical aspects of the industry and also widen my perspective, in terms of the opportunities available to me within the construction sector.

Once I had completed the Level 3, I decided to challenge myself further in obtaining my Level 4 HNC in Construction Management.

As my experience and confidence grew further, I decided now was the time to make the transition from a small contractor to a main contractor, which is when I applied for Willmott Dixon.”

Max now works as a Management Trainee at Willmott Dixon and has a year left until he completes his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management.

“Working at Willmott Dixon has allowed me to further develop my skills and knowledge of the construction industry and has enabled me to grow as a person.”
