Mia studied a Level 3 Creative Media Production course at Oaklands College, graduating in 2017.

Speaking about her experience on the course, Mia said: “The course involved learning about the theory behind all different kinds of media and working towards production. This would involve in-depth re-search behind films and audience theories as well as analysing techniques and methods used in the creative industries. We often used professional equipment such as Black Magic cameras, boom poles, tripods, LED lighting, camera movement equipment and more.”

During her time at Oaklands College, Mia proactively founded a freelance company with her partner, called ‘Milk Studios’.

Mia’s artistic approach and skilled film making saw her produce a very high standard of work through her two years at Level 3.

Mia decided not to pursue higher education but secured a one year apprenticeship with the marketing and events team within Welwyn and Hatfield Council. Mia impressed her employees through producing promotional material and organising events within the region.

Her corporate graphic design company ‘Milk Studios’ has produced logo designs and motion graphics for various local businesses in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

Mia took on an Apprenticeship role at Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, coordinating events and designing a range of marketing materials to promote events, projects and local initiatives.

After completing her apprenticeship with the local council, Mia was offered a position within the marketing department at the University of Hertfordshire where she is currently thriving, working as an Events Organiser within the Students’ Union team.

Mia coordinates events and nights out for university students and have been further progressing her skills using Adobe Creative Suite software to further enhance the quality of her work.

We look forward to following Mia’s journey as she continues to progress along a successful career pathway.

Oaklands College was where I realised I was able to really push myself, creative films and other work that I would be proud of!
