A Level student, Tope, shares his experience of studying at Oaklands College and how it allowed him to pursue sports while on the course.

Tope Adeyeye A Level Student

Name: Tope
Course: A Levels in Sociology, Phsychology, Film Studies and Extended Project

“I have completed my A Levels whilst part of the Athletic academy under Oaklands Wolves, which means I have had to balance my sports training and development alongside my studies – you really have to work hard to balance your learning with your love for sport.  Most other academy student study sport as a BTEC but I wanted to take A Levels to give me some more options in the future. This year I worked harder both in my studies and at my sport and the results really paid off.

“The first year I did Psychology, Sociology and Economics, and then switched Economics for Film Studies in my second year. I have an offer from Hertfordshire University but to be honest I may take a gap year and explore my running –I think I have to whilst I’m young and I can see what else happens in the future.

“I heard about the Oaklands Academy from other people that had been here in the past, and to me it appealed because I could do my A Levels alongside it.  The training in the academy is good, but you have to keep up on your studies in tandem with it. This discipline helps me in both my sporting career and any future working career. “
