A Level student Calvin Hibbard has secured a sought after work experience placement at an award-winning law firm.

Calvin, 16, fought off stiff competition from school and college students throughout the local area to win his work experience placement with Rayden Solicitors

Calvin, who is studying Law, History and Government & Politics, said: “I entered the competition because I wanted the chance to do work experience that I would find interesting and that would also be something to put on my CV. My teacher suggested I research England’s divorce laws and when I looked into it, I found that the system in place now is really insufficient for modern times. I will really enjoy my experience with Raydens because I have a genuine interest in law and it is something I can take further in the future.”

To mark the firm’s 10 year anniversary, Rayden Solicitors offered 10 week-long placements to local students with an interest in law. Applicants were asked to submit 250 words on the laws they would change.

Managing Partner at Raydens Nadia Biles Davies said: “We were overwhelmed not only with the number of entries, but the remarkably high standard. Calvin did exceptionally well to win with his thought provoking piece on reform to divorce laws. We are delighted that students have recognised the value that this placement can offer for a future career in law and that they have given us the opportunity to support them in pursuing their legal ambitions.”

Calvin’s placement will include practical careers advice and visits to central London courts and barristers chambers.
