Travel Scheme

To make sure travelling to the College is as easy for you as possible we have joined forces with UNO buses. Therefore, once you have enrolled at Oaklands you will be eligible for discounted or even FREE travel on UNO buses within Hertfordshire and North London.

The travel card scheme gives UNLIMITED travel and allows for a cheaper and quicker way for you to connect to any of the College campuses. Check out our interactive map to find out a route most convenient for you.

Free Meal Scheme

Students aged between 19-25 who are subject to a learning difficulty assessment (LDA) or Education Health and Care Plan (EHC) and ESF students aged 16-18 on 31st August 2020 may be entitled to free meals while attending their provision if they meet the eligibility criteria. Contact us for more information.

Childcare in FE

If you are aged 20 and over, you may be eligible to apply for financial support towards childcare. This is available to students on funded programmes from Entry to Level 2 who are at risk of not participating or remaining in learning because of barriers to accessing childcare provision. Please contact us if you would like to find out what support may be available to you.

If you are under aged under 20 at the start of your course, the Care To Learn scheme can help with childcare costs while you study. You can find out more and apply online here.

Higher Education Bursary

All students joining a Higher Education programme are liable for tuition fees.  There are no concessions available however you can apply for a Student Loan to cover your tuition fee. You may also be eligible for a Maintenance Loan. The College also has an HE Bursary and students can apply for this.

Advanced Learning Loan

Making the decision to return to education can be daunting but the Advanced Learning Loan means that course fees shouldn't be a barrier to your learning, no matter what your current financial situation. 

Bursary Fund

Oaklands College provides bursaries for both 16-18 and 19+ year old students who have a household income below £29,250. There are different types of bursary available which have different criteria.
