Students steal the show at St Albans Fashion Week

Fashion students showcased their talents

On Friday 1 November Oaklands College’s Fashion students showcased their talents at the St Albans Fashion Week catwalk in the St Albans Cathedral.

The inaugural event was launched by local fashion entrepreneur, Ellena Ophira, Editor and Director of Style in my City blog, and attracted over 700 fashionistas.

Among those showcasing designs on the catwalk included retailers Reiss, John Lewis and LK Bennett, and the College’s very own Fashion students, past and present. The College’s students produced 12 collections which made their way down the longest catwalk in the UK including full-circle skirts inspired by the natural world, shift dresses inspired by space and evening wear inspired by architecture.

Litsa Efstathiou, Co-ordinator of Fashion, commented: “Our students not only blew everyone away with their designs but showcased their modelling talents and gave up their free time to volunteer throughout, not just the catwalk, but the whole week. The students are truly talented.”
