Students visit Guardian Media Centre to look at civil rights in the USA

LONDON — At the beginning of this year, A Level Citizenship, Government and Politics students were privileged to visit the Guardian Media Centre in London to explore civil rights in the United States through looking at historical newspaper articles.
Students had to produce their own front page for a newspaper written during the civil rights conflict, highlighting the nature of the problems that were occurring in the US at the time, and they learnt about journalism techniques which will help them with their essay writing.
The day was very successful and the work produced was of a high calibre.
