Students visit Houses of Parliament

On Monday a group of learners comprising students from AS/A2 Citizenship, Government and Politics, Sociology visited the Palace of Westminster and took a tour around the House of Commons and House of Lords.

On Monday a group of learners comprising students from AS/A2 Citizenship, Government and Politics, Sociology visited the Palace of Westminster and took a tour around the House of Commons and House of Lords.

At the end of the tour the students took part in a fun, interactive and informative session to learn about voting systems and how the operate.

Afterwards, the group also were able to talk to Anne Main, the Member of Parliament for St Albans, who explained the work that she does in Parliament and how varied her day is. Students then asked Anne Main about various controversial subjects to hear her response about such topics as same-sex marriage, assisted dying and middle eastern democracies.

The day was a fun start to the new half term by all!
