Art, Fashion and Design students had the chance shine at this year’s exhibition of their work.

The exhibition of Foundation Diploma and Level 3 students was held at the St Albans Town Hall, and followed the theme of celebrating The International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies.

The private view of the exhibition saw guests, including the city’s Mayor Councillor Geoff Harrison, wowed by the students’ creations.

The judging panel, made up of Oaklands’ Director of Faculty Amanda Towers, Head of Department Mike La-Traille and local graphic designer Mike Higgs, had a hard time deciding on the winners, given the high standard of work.

Ultimately, the winners were:

  • First place: OIivia Cox – Self Portrait
  • Second place: Dan Miller – London and The Light Of The Future
  • Third place: Judyta Sokolowska – Architecture Lino Cut

Oaklands’ Head of Art, Fashion & Design Mike La-Traille said: “There was a real buzz of excitement on the night as students completed a full artist journey and could see their final results in a public space that was open to the public over three days.

“For most students this will be the first time they have worked on a project with a given theme through to completion with the final public exhibition in such a wonderful venue.”
