A-Level staff and students pretended the sun was out and barbecued delicious sausages and burgers all day for visitors, while inside the main marquee, Oaklands Beauty students treated visitors to nail treatments, Catering students had prepared delicious cakes and Business students ran fun puzzles and games. At the equine centre, students delighted onlookers with equine demonstrations and there were also pony rides on offer.
There were a variety of stalls from local charities including Toybox selling jewellery to raise money for street children in Latin America and Oaklands Student Council team running a stall for the Encephalitis Society– their chosen charity for 2011.
Local beekeepers sold honey, and visitors could also buy plants, jewellery, toys, books and much more.
Zoe Hancock, Principal of Oaklands College, commented: “We are really pleased with how the day went and I would like to thank all of our staff, students and visitors who braved the rain to make the Summer Fayre such a success. This is becoming a popular annual event for all of the family and we hope to continue the tradition in years to come.”
