Hospitality and Catering student Megan Trundle has secured a job in Chef Tom Kerridge’s Michelin star Gastropub, after impressing their team on a recent spate of work experience.

The 19 year-old Level 2 student has been offered a role at the newly renovated Hand and Flowers in Marlow after impressing them with her skills, knowledge and professionalism during a three-day placement.

Megan took the opportunity to raise her interest during a visit to dine at the restaurant, where she and her family got a look behind the scenes at the refurbished kitchens before service. After sparking conversation with the chefs, Megan was invited back to try a session of work experience. She is currently now in talks with the pub which holds four AA rosettes to work out the finer details of her role for this summer after she finishes her studies.

She said: “Getting work experience at such a high profile restaurant was one thing – getting a job there is just the icing on the cake. It is an amazing opportunity and I am so thankful they saw the potential in me to invite me back.

“Being introduced to Tom Kerridge on my first morning make it all so very real – he’s been one of the key people to inspire my passion for cooking. I can’t wait to get started this summer and really put myself to the test. I learnt so much in just three days, I’m excited to see how I can push myself on the job and see where it takes me.”
