What goes into making the House of Lords?

A Level Government & Politics students create 3D representation of the House of Lords

26 March 2013

Each year, as part of the unit on the Houses of Parliament, A Level Government & Politics students are asked to create a 3D representation of the House of Lords, the House of Commons or both.

The project gives students an opportunity to employ their creative talents as well as offer a different style of learning to help them engage with the subject.

A  Levels Advanced Practitioner, Hans Svennevig, commented: “I ask the students to use different techniques to create a constructed version of Parliament to help them remember the component parts and be able to explain them for their end of year exam.

“I started asking my students to make these models in my first year of teaching, ten years ago and each year I am amazed by their efforts, it’s really quite remarkable.”
