Former students join forces to launch business

Ella Hiscott, Oliver Green and Aaron Griffiths met while studying at Oaklands as teenagers and have been friends ever since.

Now they have combined their areas of expertise and opened Collect Service Go, a garage based at the Burrowfields Industrial Estate in Welwyn Garden City, where they provide MOTs, servicing and repairs to vehicles of all makes and models.

“We had got to a point where we didn’t want to work for other people anymore and we wanted to work for ourselves and be our own boss,” said Aaron 23, who studied Motor Vehicle at Oaklands and has been working as a mechanic for five years.

The trio offer a collection service, where they pick up clients’ cars, take them away to carry out the work, then return them to their owners, something the group believe gives them the edge.

“We can collect cars from people’s homes or from where they work, and drop them back afterwards. It means people don’t have to take time off work to sort their car out. That’s definitely a unique selling point for us,” said Oliver 22, who uses the skills he gained from studying Graphic Design to create the business’s leaflets and promotional material.

The business opened in March and the group are working hard to get their name out. “We’ve spent five months planning what we were going to do, and now it’s about spreading the word and showing people what we can do,” said Ella, 22, who is the business’s sales manager.
