Hockey Academy

 Unlock Your Potential

The Wolves Hockey Academy aims to develop each player to become the best they want to be. To achieve that you will be enrolled in a training programme that will advance your skills in the following areas:

  • Skills coaching
  • Strength and conditioning training
  • Physiotherapy
  • Performance Lifestyle mentoring

A typical day will combine study and training with the player attending St Albans Hockey Club (SAHC) team coaching up to two evenings per week and playing a club match at the weekend.

The Programme

The programme is aimed at talented hockey players aged 16 years and over who are already playing at a high standard with their school, club, regional or national age group team. Students will be passionate about hockey and highly motivated to achieve excellence in their education and sport.

Rest days, physiotherapy and mentoring are also scheduled into your Wolves Hockey Academy programme.

In addition to their involvement with St Albans Hockey Club, coaching, training & supporting activities will be timetabled into each student’s week. Hockey Academy Students will benefit from:

  • An integrated academic & Hockey Academy timetable
  • International standard hockey facilities
  • 1:1 and small group hockey coaching

  • Work experience at local and England Hockey events

"St Albans HC is delighted to be associated with Oaklands College’s plan to create a Hockey Academy. It will provide the opportunity for students to receive top quality hockey coaching on site at the St Albans campus whilst they pursue their chosen academic courses within the Oaklands community. They will be fully integrated into SAHC, training with club members and with the opportunity to play league hockey for any of the club’s many adult teams."
Andy Bowskill, Director of Hockey at St Albans HC
