On Tuesday 12 March members of the public were invited to The Alban Arena for Oaklands College’s Your Future Fair. The day proved a popular success, attracting over 800 job seekers, school leavers and their parents from across the region interested in finding out more about job opportunities and post school options.
In addition to over 65 exhibitors including employers Premier Inn, British Telecom and the Halifax, visitors were able to attend presentations on CV writing, interview techniques and apprenticeships. The Future Fair was sponsored by St Albans District Council and organised in partnership with Job Centre Plus, Youth Connexions, the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and National Apprenticeship Service.
Jamie Stevenson, Director of Apprenticeships and Business Partnerships, commented: “The day was such a success; a great opportunity to work with our partners to promote jobs, careers, further education and training to allow individuals to make informed choices about their future”.
Zoe Hancock, Principal of Oaklands College, commented: “At Oaklands we strive to serve our community, whether through the offering of a diverse range of courses or by working closely with local businesses, charities and councils and today’s event was a great example of how the College can provide opportunities for its community.”
