On 16 November, our Karate Academy travelled to the Karate Central England Championships, with four students representing the club in competition.
The event, held at the University of Worcester, formed part of the EK-1 Series, also known as the 11th International Open of the season. It brought together clubs and associations from across the UK and abroad, featuring athletes competing across a wide range of skill levels. The championships also served as an important benchmark for competitors preparing for higher-level events.
Our athletes have now opened the door to their next challenge: the Youth League in Venice, taking place 3rd to 7th of December, where results contribute to international world rankings.
All four academy students, Kiana Blake, Ameer Hasib, Glyn Dawson, and Sameer Hasib, secured podium finishes, taking home both first and second place medals in their respective weight categories. Kiana and Glyn earned silver, while Ameer and Sameer won gold.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for both the athletes and the academy. Reflecting on the team’s performance, Coach Jordan Thomas said:
“Great work from everyone leading up to the Central England International Championships. Every athlete made the finals—proof of your hard work and focus. Proud of you all. Now it’s onto the next.”
Congratulations to all four athletes on reaching the finals and representing the academy!
