A Masterclass in Hair: Bridal Styling Workshop Inspires Level 3 Students

Level 3 Hairdressing students at Oaklands College recently took part in an inspiring Bridal Hair Masterclass, delivered by award-winning professional stylist Kim Sandford Hairdressing.

The hands-on session gave students the opportunity to watch an experienced industry professional in action, explore current bridal hair trends, and learn professional techniques used across the hairdressing sector. Throughout the workshop, students were fully engaged as Kim demonstrated a range of bridal looks, sharing expert tips, tricks and insights that they can now take forward into their own practice.

The masterclass proved to be a highly motivating experience, offering students a real-world insight into working with bridal clients, managing expectations, and creating styles designed to last throughout a full wedding day.

Experiences like this are a key part of the College’s commitment to preparing students for the world of work. Alongside their qualifications, learners benefit from industry talks, masterclasses, employer visits and live demonstrations that help them explore career pathways, build confidence and develop the professional skills employers value.

Level 3 Hairdressing student Porsha said:

“From the moment Kim arrived, she was approachable, knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about bridal hair. She encouraged questions, gave honest advice and shared real-world tips about working with brides and creating long-lasting styles. It was an incredibly valuable and motivating experience.”

Staff were equally proud of how students embraced the opportunity. Kayleigh Moran-Hawkins, Curriculum Team Manager for Hair and Beauty at Oaklands College, added:

“Our students threw themselves into the masterclass and asked brilliant questions. Opportunities like this are invaluable – they help students understand industry expectations, see what’s possible and gain confidence in their next steps. Kim was fantastic, and the students came away truly inspired.”

Oaklands College extends its thanks to Kim Sandford Hairdressing for sharing her time, expertise and passion, and for helping to inspire the next generation of talented stylists.
