Oaklands College Level 3 Business students recently took part in an educational visit to the Bank of England Museum, giving them the opportunity to explore the foundations of the UK’s financial system and see key business concepts brought to life.
Accompanied by their tutors, students explored a range of interactive exhibits focusing on the history and role of the Bank of England, the development of money, inflation, interest rates, and how financial stability is maintained. These themes directly supported their studies in business and economics, helping students to contextualise classroom learning within a real-world setting.
Following the museum visit, students took part in a guided walking tour of the City of London, where they observed key financial landmarks and discussed the impact of both historic and modern institutions on the UK’s position as a global financial centre. The tour encouraged students to link theory with practice and gain a deeper understanding of how business operates beyond the classroom.
The visit offered students valuable insight into the scale and importance of London’s financial sector, while reinforcing the relevance of their studies to future academic and career pathways. Experiences like this play an important role in broadening learners’ perspectives and supporting their personal and professional development.
