This week, Oaklands College was proud to attend the Construction Insight Day 2026 at the Stevenage Education Support Centre, joining 35 businesses and organisations to provide an engaging and inspiring experience for students.
The event welcomed approximately 250 students from 20 local schools, giving them a hands-on introduction to careers in construction—from brickwork and carpentry to plastering and site management. Oaklands was represented by colleagues from our Marketing, Apprenticeships, Employability, and Carpentry teams. A special thank you goes to Peter Searle from Carpentry, who provided students with valuable insight into Oaklands’ trade courses and future career pathways within the construction industry.
It was fantastic to see students actively participating, asking questions, and exploring the wide range of opportunities available within the construction sector.
A huge thank you to all Oaklands staff, organisers, and volunteers who made the day possible. Events like this play a vital role in giving young people real-world insight and we are proud to support the development of the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
